  • NHS England Merger, 1 February 2023 - Delen / Kahootz URL Change

    Published: January 2023

    Dear Colleague,

As of 1 February 2023, NHS Digital will merge with NHS England to bring together one single organisation, referred to as NHS England.

At this time, NHS Digital, as a separate arm’s length body of the Department of Health and Social Care, will cease to exist.

Consequently, the site URL will change from nhsengland.kahootz.com to www.nhsengland.kahootz.com and, in time, the NHS Digital logo will be replaced with the NHS England logo.

Changing the URL means all saved links and bookmarks need to be updated to www.nhsengland.kahootz.com, as they will no longer work.

This can be done by simply replacing ‘hscic’ with ‘nhsengland’ in relevant links.

The new URL for the Delen homepage will be: https://nhsengland.kahootz.com/t_c_home/groupHome

Whilst we will do everything to minimise disruption, we ask that you please bear with us as we enter this period of change.

Learn more about 'Creating a new NHS England' by visiting the NHS Digital website

If you have any other questions relating to this communication, please contact information.standards@nhs.net

    Kind regards

  • Delen Refresh - Week commencing 29 August 2022

    Published: August 2022

    Dear colleague,

Delen continues to receive very high user satisfaction ratings, but it's important to us to keep striving for improvements based on the feedback and to ensure content remains accessible for you as our users.

Consequently, we are undertaking a redesign project on the site to provide you with a fresh Delen experience where you can expect to see changes to navigation, structure and overall page design.

Changes will be made to the platform week commencing 29 August, and we expect the redesign to be fully launched on 08 September.

During this phase, the site may look inconsistent in terms of design, but we will do everything we can to minimise disruption.

If you'd like to tell us what you think about the new site, you can use the feedback link on the new homepage.

    Kind regards

  • Coding of COVID-19

    Published: March 2020

    Dear Colleague,

We have received a number of queries seeking confirmation of ICD-10 coding of suspected cases of COVID-19 and the application of the national clinical coding standard DCS.XXII.5: COVID-19 (U07.1). We are currently working closely with WHO through the WHO-FIC Classifications and Statistical Advisory Committee on additional coding guidance for COVID-19.

Please be assured this is being given the highest priority and once the guidance has been agreed we will publish the resolutions on the Query Resolution Database for the benefit of the wider coding community.

    Kind regards

  • Publication Dates Added to Delen Blog Posts

    Published: January 2020

    Dear colleague

We are currently adding publication dates to all legacy blog posts on Delen to ensure that users have access to the most up to date information about our products and services.

If you have registered as user on Delen, depending on your notification settings, you may have received a 'workspace summary' or ‘weekly activity’ notification and you may receive subsequent notifications which appears to contain old news items from 2018 and 2019.

Please be aware that any items in the notification with a publication date of 2018 and 2019 are not new news items and can be ignored.

    Kind regards

  • Delen Refresh

    Published: December 2019

    Dear colleague,

We're pleased to announce that the Delen site will enter the new year with a brand-new look and structure.

The site has been redesigned to better reflect our core products and the services that we provide, to make it easier for our users to find the information that they're looking for, quickly!

Below is a brief summary of the additions and changes we've made:

    Summary of changes

    • The colour of the main interface will be changed to give the site a cleaner, fresher look
    • The navigation images on the homepage will been modernised and we'll add links to:
      • SNOMED CT, dm+d, ICD-10, OPCS-4, NICIP
      • SNOMED CT to Classification Maps
      • ICD-11 evaluation
      • Education & e-Learning materials
      • Past and present consultations - to gain input from our users to help us make better decisions and help us understand the priorities of our stakeholders
      • Support and advice - to provide guidance for users with specific queries
      • Our Service Improvement Plan - to indicate progress against our commitments agreed within our Annual Survey
    • Popular publications and education materials will be added onto our product pages, with the aim that everything our users need is in one place
    • The latest news section will be condensed so that users can see - at a glance - the top ten latest news articles, categorised by publication date.

The development work is due to take place between Christmas and the new year so those working on Delen at this time may see changes to the interface of the site but no practical or access issues should occur.

We look forward to hearing your feedback in the new year!

    Kind regards

  • Delen Refresh

    Published: April 2019

Following beta testing, our refreshed Delen site will go live this evening.

Thank you to everyone who took time throughout April to provide feedback on the design and we are particularly grateful to those of you with additional needs who provided detailed advice to help us build Delen in a way that works well for you.  Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and entirely constructive and we hope the new site meets your needs.

Please note that although you can continue to use Delen while it is being refreshed, you may notice some strange behaviour on some pages as the changes work their way through. Note also that due to the technical nature of some changes, there will be some pages that now have a different URL, meaning that some of your bookmarks may not work.

Below is a brief summary of the changes we've made. Although this is a major refresh, we are committed to continuous improvement, so please use the feedback mechanism on the new site to let us know how we can make Delen even better.

    Summary of changes

    Fewer Navigation Layers

By using some of the new features, such as carousels and accordions, we are able to place a large amount of information on a single page without making the page cluttered or dense. This allows you to see at a glance a broad set of information topics and then reveal the detail under those that interest you. Our hope is that this will help you get to the information you need as quickly as possible, reducing the need to chase information through layers of pages and constantly navigate back and fore.

    Improved Accessibility

We've designed Delen in a way that we hope provides a good experience for all of our users with additional accessibility needs.  The interface has been kept clean and simple and all graphical elements have supporting text that can be processed by screenreaders and other accessibility tools. For autistic and other neuro-diverse users, we have ensured navigation mechanisms are consistent and have removed busy and moving content.

    Promoting Content

As well as making Delen easier to navigate, we have also brought to the front of the site the content that is accessed most frequently by users. This means you will find the Query Resolution Database and READ to SNOMED CT mapping tables on the landing page, along with our latest news items. We have also tried to make the network of Delen workspaces more visible, so that you can see all the workspaces, what each workspace is for and request access where appropriate.

  • Delen Refresh

    Published: April 2019

Although Delen continues to receive very high user satisfaction scores (94% in our 2018 survey) we know how important it is to keep striving for improvements. In our 2018-19 Service Improvement Plan, we therefore committed to making Delen more accessible for our users and over the past few months we have undertaken a significant redesign project.

We are pleased to announce that you can now see the results of this project by visiting our new Delen “Beta” site. Our aim is to provide you with a fresh Delen experience that takes advantage of enhanced functionality and enables you to get to the content you need as quickly as possible. Please take a moment to visit the Beta site and tell us what you think by using the feedback link on the home page. Throughout April we will continue to refine the design in response to feedback from users and our plan is to switch to the new design at the beginning of May.

Please note that the content contained on the Beta site is for illustrative purposes only and will not be maintained, so you should continue to use the existing site as your authoritative source of information.

    Kind regards

In our Service Improvement Plan, we committed to improving the Query Resolution Database by identifying changes and deletions in the database.

  • Delen Refresh

    Published: September 2017

We will be carrying out a planned uplift of Delen tomorrow (14-Sep-2017) to refresh the user interface and remove the blog stream from the home page. This will provide a better user experience and address an issue some users found when following the "Go to what's new" link.

The work will take place in the morning and should have no or minimal impact on your use of Delen.

We hope you like the new look and as always if you have any feedback,  or experience any issues, please get in touch with us.
