NHS dm+d is split into 5 different levels/components/boxes1 (Virtual Therapeutic Moiety (VTM), Virtual Medicinal Product (VMP), Virtual Medicinal Product Pack (VMPP), Actual Medicinal Product (AMP) and Actual Medicinal Product Pack (AMPP)).
One level that has raised some issues with interoperability is that of the Actual Medicinal Product (AMP) and the purpose of this paper is to define and explain the different ‘types’ of AMP that are currently found in dm+d. Definition of the different types will subsequently provide input into queries raised on the dm+d Interoperability Challenges Log, for example ‘Supplier Agnostic’ AMPs and ‘Wholesaler’ AMPs and begin to inform subsequent papers on how best to address the issues raised. |
